Boris Akopian

Boris Khachaturovich Akopian was born into a simple working class family on December 6, 1947 in Yerevan. Even at school, the art teacher Nikolai Brezhnev noticed a creatively gifted child and insisted on entering him into the art school. Kodzhoyan, which Boris graduated with honors. Thus began the creative path of Boris Hakobyan - an artist who devoted himself to art without a trace, an artist whose name will always be pronounced with respect and love.

1967 - art school. Terlemezyan, faculty of monumental painting.

Since 1975 he has been teaching painting at the Art Academy, assistant professor of painting and composition.

Since 1976 - a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR of Armenia.

Since 1993 - Member of the International Association of Fine Arts of UNESCO.

Since 1976, Boris Hakobyan's paintings have been exhibited with constant success at republican, all-Union and foreign exhibitions. Along with the main creative works of easel painting and graphics, the artist showed his talent in the field of monumental and decorative painting related to architecture (tempera painting, mosaics with natural stone and smalt).

Since 1982, Boris Hakobyan has been working a lot in oils, fond of pastel painting, graphics, and printmaking.

1990…. Growing popularity, government orders, recognition ... All this is overshadowed by a terrible event that hit the artist's family. Under unclear circumstances, the youngest son of Boris, Armen, dies. Grief devastated, destroyed, broke the master.

Boris Khachaturovich Akopyan died on June 10, 2020. He was buried in Yerevan at the Shahumyan cemetery. The grave was erected according to the sketches and testament of the artist, his seal was embossed on the stone, as well as on immortal paintings.

P.S. Since 1990, in memory of his dead son, the artist signs his paintings BORIS ARMEN AKOPIAN.
